this time last year i was getting ready to apply clown makeup and spend a soggy, cold night in the center of bridport. this year i walked up some hills and got quite muddy with a girl in the lake district. i think its safe to say that things changed for the better.

i hope the rest of 171 are having a nice new years eve and getting quite drunk. theres no 'hope' about it actually, im sure they are.

this is the last post of this project, thanks again if you have followed along at all. i will keep posting through next year although not necessarily everyday before midnight, so expect more 'exciting' things on here.

today me and emily saved this fish's life, then it died a few hours later. RIP english, we hardly knew ye.

we started a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle and got about 5% of it done before giving up. tomorrow we are going for a walk around the local countryside and probably getting quite cold and muddy.

today was another travel day. me and emily got on a bus and went oop norf.

it was cramped and full of people ringing everyone in their phone book. thats definitely a thing that people do on buses, i dont understand it. we also found the best love heart sweet ever, all it said was 'MY IDEA.'. one for the power struggle in every relationship.

it looks like phils shaved his beard off and kept the moustache. best ever.

yesterday was tiring so i slept for a long long time and hung out on the computer all day advising emily on what pets to adopt on sims. classic boxing day / every day.

so this is christmas and those are some christmas lights bokeh'd because i cant use the 50mm i got well enough to take good photos yet.

i actually went to sleep at an okay time last night, so charlie running into my room shouting ITS CHRISTMAS SAAAAMMMMMM! at half past seven in the morning wasnt quite as painful as i had anticipated.

present opening was good. i got some cool books and a little lego boxer man and the annual abundance of grey clothing amongst other things.

after that me and joe went to dads with granny and grandad. it was nice to have a small lunch at christmas for once with just a few people. good conversations and larfs.

i also had a whole bowl of custard to myself. merry christmas

so, thats looking pretty full up.

as you can probably imagine charlies excitment levels have gone through the roof at the sight of all the presents under the tree. we have had to do christmas crackers for the past three dinners in a row just to keep them from spilling over completely.

i expect i will wake up at a disgustingly early time tomorrow and open some presents and drink some milk to cure the indigestion i will most definitely have. i will also try not to insert any sharp implements under my thumbnail as well.

i like to talk about that a lot.

i slept for about 13 hours last night / this morning. i havent done that for a while. it felt good but at the same time not seeing daylight is somewhat depressing.

after that i fought my way around morrisons looking for various food items for dinner. i found none, but i did find the e45 cream that i needed and although on the packaging it says nothing about not eating it, i wouldnt recommend it.

later on i found dill and forced some reindeer antlers onto her head.

today i woke up (wheyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy) and looked after charlie for about 9 hours and cleaned the house in preparation for mum and jp arriving back from their belgium holidays. what they or indeed i hadnt bargained on, was the extreme amount of faecal based terror that the cat had left on their bed. welcome home.

later on i slept for about 45 minutes and then deliriously ate some pasta. after that i hung a studio light out of my bedroom window and took some photos of the berries outside in the garden. they look a bit christmassy dont they.

today was mine and joes last full day of looking after charlie. he came into my room about six times last night. luckily joe did the morning shift and i got to sleep in. booya

we went to dads and had hot dogs and chips and played with lego and his old mini steam engine train car thing. it was pretty awesome.

so today i had to wake up at 7am and look after charlie until lunch time. way too early.

i took mums grandads old slr camera down to the beach today with phil and joe. i also took my dslr because you know, digital.

we drew more temporary penises in public places and jumped about abit and looked at the sea. it was very cold and the waves looked really big but were actually quite small.

i woke up today to a lego version of me playing drums made by charlie. after more prodding and shouting he managed to get a place on my floor mattress and we drew poos in eachothers note books for some time. i also got him to draw an aeroplane and some mountains.

after that he roped me into playing the tin tin playstation game for an hour or so until i put him in his room that he then tidied until it was time for food. curry. well good.

i had a shower and i think i might wet shave my face later on. smooth skin rash here we come.

people awoke in varying states of disrepair and hungoverness.

me and em had stayed up til 7am completing dissertations and eating cheese so we werent so bad, im not sure how everyone else felt. tim and alan shared a bed, they are so in love.

we packed our things and said goodbye to beds, fridges, goldfish and the house itself as we left on our annual journey home for christmas. it was long and hellish but we stopped at fleet and i drew some penises in the condensation on the windows of the bridge. good

i have just arrived home. i ate some cous cous. charlie has no top front teeth.

also blogger has changed their post editor for me so everything looks weird and not normal. soz

so today was 171's christmas day. we all got up way too early and opened secret santa presents. i got a water propelled rocket from joe. pretty awesome.

i fell back to sleep and woke up to phil and brig preparing tonights fantastic dinner of nut roast, veggies and stuffing. alan and emily and other people came around and we had a great time. thats all of us up there look.

i didnt sleep until about 6am last night. i dont know why. i woke up and received some parcels for people and then went back to bed. i woke up again and it was getting dark. thats the one thing i dislike about winter; my days get even shorter than normal.

i walked to camberwell college and dropped some library books off. they have all the christmas lights up along the road as well, so i took some photos of them and then loads of buses came along and the lights reflected in their windows and stuff.

last night i went and watched some bands at the old blue last. there i met alan and emily and some new people, most notably andrew and heather. we all had a good time watching bands, especially tellison.

i have spent most of today completely cleaning my room. so that means all the corners where everything gets put during a standard 'tidy' as well. i chucked out a lot of crap and also came across interesting items i didnt know i had. one being a nice black jumper and the other being about eighteen feet of un-popped bubble wrap. if anyone needs some bubble wrap let me know. i've got loads now.

today was house cleaning day. i also answered the door to a happy christmas asda shop from muv; 6 bags of absolute awesome. thanks mum!

i was awake at eleven but then, along with everyone else fell back to sleep until about half three. after that we went to get the photos from asda. the one i took of an aeroplane came out well. that was all i wanted.

i spent most of last night putting off the film essay / review i had to do until i finally caved in and completed it in about an hour. i have probably done it wrong. this is fine. the queue outside the hand in office at 4pm was something else though; it stretched right into the canteen.

i came home and everyone was planning an ikea trip. i went along and snagged some free pencils and looked at nice desks. phil trod white paint all over the display carpets in the fake little rooms and we left. we also got a doormat.

i have completed all my work for this term. next term is going to be hideous.

last night i cycled to asda to fulfil some late night pizza cravings. on my way there my back wheel came off my bike... i was fine and didnt fall off or anything because im amazing / very lucky that i was going quite slow and on flat ground. anyway, i got pizza and then talked to this guy who was fixing the road or something about whether he had a spanner set i could use quickly. he didnt, but the one spanner he did have fit my back wheel bolt perfectly, and i fixed it right there on the spot. after thanking him he gave me a greasy hand shake and told me to ride safely and have a nice night. people like that remind me that the world is actually an alright place.

today is the last day of november so i thought i would show off my attempted moustache that i have been sporting this past month or so. it is more impressive than last years, i can say that for sure.

today started well. i eventually woke up after a fair bit of poking and prodding and saw emily off on her way back to hatfield. i spent the rest of the day getting angry with codecs and wrestling with photoshop plug ins.

a photoset usually means that i have actually gone and done something with my life. i did.

me, emily, emilys dad and his other half val went into london and had a look around the national portrait gallery, there was some good photography and some bad photography. i waited outside a toilet for about half an hour and then we went to hyde parks winter wonderland tacky christmas fair spectacular. it was the worst and best thing ever. horrible faux wooden huts housing food outlets, fair games and even cash machines, a big light up turny wheel and pretty much everything to do with christmas you could ever want ever and more. it was pretty good to take photos at as well, im going to go back there at some point.

i slept past my alarms and awoke to toni ringing me to tell me that she was in the library waiting for a lens that i promised to lend her. i got my self organised and went to fulfil this promise. on the way i saw a man get knocked from his bike by a bus, it was pretty shocking but he was okay. the bus didnt even stop or anything either, terrible people.

i got some books from the library full of joel meyerowitz's photographs. i am gradually falling in love with his work. it reminds me of my own but a million times better, this is both great and depressing. colour

we walked to asda today and bought ingredients for a fruit salad and things to make our own version of upper crusts brie, cranberry, bacon and spinach rolls. we just made them, they were as nice if not better than upper crusts. we're going into business soon.

i went to film studies and to my surprise found it didnt make me want to kill myself quite as much as usual. i drew a nice capital G in my book as well.

i woke up to phil talking to a religious lady at the door. we managed to convince her that christmas was fun and then she said phil looked like jesus. SE15

it got very dark very quickly and everyone in 171 was feeling a bit depressed, so we journeyed towards the bright green beacon of hope that is asda and bought food to make us feel better. i got some cookies and ten oranges. i have eaten four already.

i also spent a bit of today sorting out an andinmyhandsacamera online shop. how exciting right?

the reason being is this: y'know those pinhole photos i did a while back? yeah? well im taking some of the photos and making them into badges. and i thought maybe some people might still think badges are cool. maybe even cool enough to buy? i doubt it, but anyway. yeah. i love badges, so maybe you do too.

to my amazement the sun (yeah, that guy) streamed in through my window this morning. this actually woke me up at a time that is more in keeping with normal humans sleeping patterns and meant i actually did things with my day. these things mainly involved walking into peckham, getting unwelcome but manageable news about a certain shift at a certain work place not being able to be swapped around for a certain person and fish finger sandwiches.

i went into central today and bought some stationary. i got a new staedtler 0.3, a new black bic fine, an a6 graph paper pad and this black pen from muji that contains the worst ink/nib known to man. scratchy dosent even begin to describe it.

i stopped off in trafalgar and took some photos of the poppies floating. last year i stood on some steps for about five hours and watched a lot of people march along and remember people and took photos of it all, it was good. i remember getting very wet though.

im pretty hungry and i need a bath. new derren brown tonight. woopah.

this is what going home looks like, i had two sandwiches from tesco in my bag as well. so good.

my day was pretty gosh darn boring. i sat around for quite some time and then got a 30 second critique of my photo and went home. 2.30-5pm, the time just flys by.

i walked to asda and bought some proper food shopping. i got loads of stuff for under ten pounds, although i had to tell people that the lady serving me was closing her till so they couldnt queue behind me. you'd think she would have a sign or something. oh well.

tonight i have eaten four slices of chocolate chip infused brioche loaf and five cookies.

i came back to london just as the protests were beginning to calm down. i met james and we hung around and watched 50 or so teenagers dance to some music in front of the police for about half an hour. eventually they started marching again and then the police cordoned people and placed them all under arrest for not walking where they were supposed to. it was all a bit silly, so i left. after that i stumbled upon the lovely simon and fabian of we came out like tigers fame. it was a very unexpected encounter and it made me happy. i miss those guys. listen to their music here.

tonight i will be completely cleaning up and organising the disgrace that is my desktop, eating food, getting my 'environmental portraits' ready to be slated tomorrow and listening to music.

this morning i dragged myself out of bed and onto a bus and into a class room and doodled through nearly three hours worth of presentations. useful.

in the afternoon i had to walk home as i had run out of oyster money and i didnt have any money or my card on me. it was kind of nice and i felt like i was saving money and exercising, however i countered this with a frankly devastating 'large big tasty with bacon meal' from mcdonalds a few hours later. balance

tonight i will mainly be listening to music, playing with some new blog layouts on photoshop and making omelettes. comfy

when i was in hatfield i got a tattoo courtesy of this fine young gent (check out his work, he's really really good).

ive wanted this for a very very long time and its awesome to finally have it embedded in my skin forever.

so yeah, last night we went to this halloween party thing at this abandoned uni building, its being looked after by this building company that effectively pays people to squat there and keep it nice. its eerie.

i wasnt so into the whole party side of things but i was quite into the looking around and investigating all the little bits side of things, so thats what i did.

i was also wearing masking tape all over my face and it seemed to scare quite a lot of people. some people were actually kind of hostile towards it and felt it was a bit much, i thought scary things was what halloween was all about? obviously not...

we went to rhias house last night as it was her birthday. and naturally celebrations, drinking and categories needed to be had, done so responsibly and won.

i had to be back in london by ten thirty at the latest. i wanted time to go home and everything before uni though so i woke up at 6.30am and trained it back. i arrived in very good time. theres something really nice about having time to hang out and wake up a bit before uni, i think i might do this more often.

i got home and made some chips, listened to emilys mix cd and ate an orange. i also watched the last two episodes of spooks ever. i didnt cry, but they did destroy me emotionally. rip ruth

today i went over to old st pauls place to check out the occupy london protest going on there. its pretty huge and covers a lot of ground. id say there were 100+ tents there at least.

ran / tubed / lucked it to film studies in time to watch 'man with a movie camera'. i expect at the time it was amazing and considered completely groundbreaking, however sixty seven minutes of what looks like random black and white footage with a jolty soundtrack behind it these days is somewhat boring.

today we all woke up way too early and turned my room into a kind of studio / practice space in order to film a little video for le band with mr alan clarkson. it was hot and sweaty and somewhat more foul smelling than i would have liked but we got everything done and wrapped at about half past two. woop!

we're playing at powerlunches with run, WALK! tonight and then im going to hatfield for a day or two and letting some swedish people stay on my floor. they are a band, not just swedish people.

i stayed up way too late last night making a mix cd for emily. i also made a nice printed slipcase and put it all together and everything. i am proud.

i woke up this morning and got some new shoes through the door. they have fleece inside them... yeah FLEECE. winters going to be warm this year.

did uni and got told alot of my photos were wrong and then saw exactly the same mistakes in our tutors examples of how we should be doing it... always good.

made an omelette in our completely redesigned and re atmosphered kitchen. its gone from rotting waste land to serene living room in less than a day. this happens alot in our house.

going to see we came out like tigers and some other bands tonight, im excited.

today i went to a bank and talked to someone about maybe changing from my current bank to the bank i was in. they said okay and told me what i needed to do. im going to do this.

i walked for a while and had a loner mcdonalds. then i listened to nick from actionaid talk to me about actionaid, and i in turn talked to him about my current financial situation and life. i think its the first time ive ever actually felt like i was being the annoying person in one of those situations.

i walked some more and found myself in a rather picturesque st james park. i angered some geese and nearly stepped on a squirrel so left and walked some more to get a bus, i took the above photo on the way.

i was supposed to be getting photos for the little project we have to do this week on the subject 'a man at work'. this would be fine if we had more than one week to complete it / it was a project that i actually cared about / felt inspired by / had a well thought through brief / meant something to me. men are at work. they work. i know im being facetious.

yesterday the tangled tour hit edinburgh, the show was good. the smallest venue so far on the tour and my god was it loud. great fun though. all the bands were amazing and veils blew my mind again.

later on we went to tonights travel lodge ( thanks timmmmm ) and then went back out to this club / pub / bar called the rat pack. pretty much everyone was there and everyone had a good time, even if it did end up with tangled talk records and almost all of its roster getting asked nicely to leave...

leeds was a blast. super sweaty and super loud. all the other bands were on top form. it was the first time i'd seen the whole of veils' set and they blew me away, so good.

afterwards we got pizza from this shop that did 11" ones for only £3.00. wut. then we followed bastions to a nice little travel lodge and it is where we are sleeping tonight. its going to be so nice to sleep in a bed again. i cant wait.

things are going better today. we went through the peak district on the way to leeds and stopped in the mist. it was wet but it was lovely and fresh northern air did us all some good.

today i started my second year of university, it dosent seem like a whole year ago since i started my first blah blah blah yeah yeah we've all heard it get a life and go and do something else.

but yeah that happened. we sat through another induction, then went to the SU bar (probably one of the most stark, bleak and horrific places that you could choose to sit in for any extended period of time) and played with cameras and laughed at first years playing awkward get to know you games and watched james exercise his new found authority over tolga as seen here.

i cycled to asda and bought some pizza. i helped fold some t shirts and then masking taped them and labelled them for tour. i ate some pizza. i listened to some music. i may or may not have another pizza later.

today i left hatfield and came back to london. i had an awesome time there, it mainly consisted of pizza and spray paint and walking and leaves and mcdonalds and beds and films and warmth and friendly people. i think i will be there again in the future.

i got on the tube back through london and sat opposite a man who managed to eat no less than eight sandwiches in between bank and borough whilst drinking a can of holsten pils. then i helped a man work out how to use an oyster card, he was trying to scan / insert it into the ticket machine by the bus stop. then i went to the bank. then i bought two new pens. then i made some food and then this happened.

this building in greenwich looks like its part of a film set. we went there today to buy a charger to charge our probably completely dead and useless van battery. the ongoing battle with our van will never end. ever. however, if the charger works then i think we are going back to bridport tomorrow for a fews days to write a new set for october tour.

today our van got fixed. if i am completely honest i did not think i would be typing that sentence this month let alone this year. we just have to recharge the battery a bit and she should SHOULD be good to go.

i managed to get inside the bank today and transfer funds to people for things. i find that they are such stressful and oppressive places, maybe its just me. i just feel so on edge every time i go into a bank. anyway that happened.

we then went to morrisons where i accidentally purchased some lemon and lime flavoured sparkling water instead of peach flavour, and waited for about an hour at the self service machines whilst an incredibly fat lady with glasses knelt on the floor desperately trying to get a card only payment machine to accept her ten pound note. she was only buying bread for gods sake, wholemeal as well.

i decided to take the new old lens out and see how good it was for general purpose stuff. it is pretty much the softest thing ever, dosent focus properly and the auto focus motor sounds like a car failing to start. despite all of that though it does have a certain charm. its like it knows its been re-discovered and is determined to proove itself and get more use. on the plus side it is quite small and discrete so i think in time i could grow to like the little guy.

this is a picture of laurens hair and hand because she dosent like me taking photos of her. we went into uni and sorted out enrolling properly even though what i had already done would have been fine but yeah. the man photocopied some stuff and i am now 'on the system'. he also said that when we come back to get the new student cards to look for 'the scrum' of people as thats where they'll be giving them out. this is reassuring.

after that we talked about body parts in the pub and walked home in the rain.

today i found an old old old lens stuck down the bottom of my camera stuff box. its a canon 35-70mm 3.5 and its made out of plastic and only has an autofocus option. i think maybe the canon people were extremely drunk when they decided to make this because it serves no specific purpose whatsoever, i dont even know where i got it from.

i slept for a long time today. then i woke up and stayed in bed for ages.

oh life.

new spooks was really really good. tariq died though, he was a good character and that sucks abit. still the newest series is awesome.

i had to scan some stuff in today and so did joe and so did phil. this helped me remember that i actually have a scanner and that it is basically a camera, so i spent along time scanning things / bits of myself and settled for this scan of my face and hair.

i want to work out a way to use a scanner to take actual photos of things that arnt right close to it. there is probably a way to do this but i haven't googled it yet...

yeah okay you can do it quite easily, the results dont look that great but i might try it some time.

other than all that i had some eggs beans and chips, some mango rubicon and signed the tenancy agreement so i can live in 171 for at least another year. let the good times roll...

it took me a long long time to fall asleep last night. a long time indeed. about 7.30am kind of long.

these are my drumsticks, a lot of them will probably break tonight. i really need to buy some more. i think i may have a stash of old ones somewhere that are still beaten up but not quite as 'on the verge' as these guys. i think theyre in that box over there.
