Swelterer

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm

not a claad in the sky. it was frickin hot today and we spent six hours of it in a van travelling back to bridport. kate bush was listened to, bottles were pee'd in, mcdonalds was eaten and songs were sung. standard m8

arrived home to typically excited charlie whos favourite new word is 'jackass', and a front room full of weird daddy long legs flying things.

doing band song playing for hours and hours tomorrow, ace.

2D House

canon eos 40d, canon 35-70mm

this building in greenwich looks like its part of a film set. we went there today to buy a charger to charge our probably completely dead and useless van battery. the ongoing battle with our van will never end. ever. however, if the charger works then i think we are going back to bridport tomorrow for a fews days to write a new set for october tour.

i feel quite tired after being awake kind of earlyish and putting out washing and taking it in again and being on an incredibly sweaty bus and walking around greenwich and eating hummus and pitta and things. my eyes hurt.

Fixer

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm

today our van got fixed. if i am completely honest i did not think i would be typing that sentence this month let alone this year. we just have to recharge the battery a bit and she should SHOULD be good to go.

i managed to get inside the bank today and transfer funds to people for things. i find that they are such stressful and oppressive places, maybe its just me. i just feel so on edge every time i go into a bank. anyway that happened.

i also cycled to asda with joe and phil and bought some peach flavoured sparkling water after yesterdays lemon and lime based mishap. then i came home and ate some chips and stuff.

canon eos 40d, canon 35-70mm

i am making ALOT of chips.

we walked up to camberwell today and joe and phil signed some housey stuff and the bank closed their door on me when all i wanted to do was put some money in them.

we then went to morrisons where i accidentally purchased some lemon and lime flavoured sparkling water instead of peach flavour, and waited for about an hour at the self service machines whilst an incredibly fat lady with glasses knelt on the floor desperately trying to get a card only payment machine to accept her ten pound note. she was only buying bread for gods sake, wholemeal as well.

Hair hand

canon eos 40d, canon 35-70mm

i decided to take the new old lens out and see how good it was for general purpose stuff. it is pretty much the softest thing ever, dosent focus properly and the auto focus motor sounds like a car failing to start. despite all of that though it does have a certain charm. its like it knows its been re-discovered and is determined to proove itself and get more use. on the plus side it is quite small and discrete so i think in time i could grow to like the little guy.

this is a picture of laurens hair and hand because she dosent like me taking photos of her. we went into uni and sorted out enrolling properly even though what i had already done would have been fine but yeah. the man photocopied some stuff and i am now 'on the system'. he also said that when we come back to get the new student cards to look for 'the scrum' of people as thats where they'll be giving them out. this is reassuring.

after that we talked about body parts in the pub and walked home in the rain.

Rings

canon eos 40d, canon 35-70mm

today i found an old old old lens stuck down the bottom of my camera stuff box. its a canon 35-70mm 3.5 and its made out of plastic and only has an autofocus option. i think maybe the canon people were extremely drunk when they decided to make this because it serves no specific purpose whatsoever, i dont even know where i got it from.

i slept for a long time today. then i woke up and stayed in bed for ages.

oh life.

new spooks was really really good. tariq died though, he was a good character and that sucks abit. still the newest series is awesome.

i had to scan some stuff in today and so did joe and so did phil. this helped me remember that i actually have a scanner and that it is basically a camera, so i spent along time scanning things / bits of myself and settled for this scan of my face and hair.

i want to work out a way to use a scanner to take actual photos of things that arnt right close to it. there is probably a way to do this but i haven't googled it yet...

yeah okay you can do it quite easily, the results dont look that great but i might try it some time.

other than all that i had some eggs beans and chips, some mango rubicon and signed the tenancy agreement so i can live in 171 for at least another year. let the good times roll...

these are my drumsticks, a lot of them will probably break tonight. i really need to buy some more. i think i may have a stash of old ones somewhere that are still beaten up but not quite as 'on the verge' as these guys. i think theyre in that box over there.

okay yeah there are some in that box over there. still

today the population of our house increased from three to eight. everyones thats ever lived here is currently here and its nice. nice to have people running about and big talks around the kitchen table again.

the council provided us with a big blue recycling bin today. the best bit is that you can just put anything and everythng in it. no sorting required. this and the amount of cleaning done today (mainly the fridge) is one of the best things that happened to our house in months.

today was a wake up and wait for a man come and tell us he cant fix our van because we have the wrong part kind of day. i also caught up on all of the internet stuff ive missed out on over the past week and watched the last episode of young, dumb and living off mum. ryan won. maggie guessed correctly.

i took some old bin bags that were left in the hall near tims room outside and bought a tray of flapjack from tesco for 73 pence. its seriously good value.

travel day 23098345#

i got my train on time but it quickly got busy and before i knew it i was sat next to a lady that smelt like peanut butter. i looked around for other potential sources; sandwiches? toast? an impromptu peanut butter lovers convention being held on the train? but no, it was the lady. suffice to say this grossed me out for pretty much the entire journey.

upon arrival at home i bought some food, hung with matt and joe for a bit and had a shower to wash off the travel. i think the man is coming to fix our van tomorrow. me and joe are going to have to be all men like and pretend we know what we're talking about. i have a feeling it might turn out like that peep show episode when they get the guy in to fix their toilet door and he ends up going crazy and kicking it in again. that wont happen.

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm

i had to wake up at a 'proper' time today and look after charlie in the morning. we played mr man snakes and ladders amongst some other things. i won the first game because the dice was really easy to throw sixes with if you chucked it right. i let him win the second time.

later i went to visit my grandparents; its always so good to see them and hear about their lives and everything. i dont know any mid seventy year olds that keep as busy as they do, its mental. also the relationship they have is amazing, theyre constantly telling storys over the top each other and interjecting little facts and details that the other has forgotten. in everything they do they are a team, they live for one another. i love that.

the weather has been nice today. blustery sunny damp crisp brown grey green and golden.

today bridport held its second annual hat festival. yeah i know, its exactly what it sounds like. a lot of people walking around a market town wearing hats.

its nice and all i suppose, but throughout the day it just started to seem like more and more of an excuse for a load of posh old people to dress up in big fancy headgear and get pissed on cheap wine by 4pm.

i took a few photos but the whole thing seemed abit weird. i dunno. so i took this photo of a roof instead. ive been trying to tread the line between design and photography at the moment. i havent succeeded yet but its something im interested in.

i think im seeing some friends tonight. that'l be nice.

canon eos 40d, sigma 50-200mm

i awoke later than i should have and went to pay some money into the bank. i paid it in alright and then tried to get o2 to take it out again so i no longer owed them money. this took WAY longer than i expected. after ringing them eight times and not getting anything sorted i made the acquaintanceship of o2 online helper Dillon, he seemed alright and gave me a different number to ring. when this didnt work either he said that he'd ring me within the hour to take my card details directly from me. he obviously got cold feet about speaking over the phone so i was phoned by Marcus. he was very helpful and although he didnt explain Dillon's absence he did take my money from me. day accomplished.

later i went for a little walk about the place and spied this cat being typically curious and sneaking around a half built house. later i shaved my face.

i woke up at a more socially acceptable time today and made my way into town. i went to the bank and complained to the man about my account and everything thats wrong in my life until he wiped the charge that barclays gave me for a direct debit going wrong. woot

then i met phil and looked around the market stalls briefly. there wasnt much good stuffs so we came home and played swingball, chucked apples at things in the garden, got some shopping and drank some beer.

there wasnt any spider scares last night. this is a good thing. although i did watch young dumb and living off mum and that made me almost as anxious.

i woke up late today as i forgot to set an alarm and then joe and ellie arrived home. hung out with them and fed the animals and laughed at the dog for a while then had some home made pizza for dinner. woot

Brown and green and grey

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm

i didnt sleep and im feeling OKAY. i watched the machinist last night to get me in the mood and now i keep expecting to see a post it note on my fridge. dark

after much deliberation i decided to venture out and take some sleep deprived photos of burgess park being all nice and sunny and rainy but to my dismay some builders have literally fenced off the WHOLE park. like, all of it. theyre doing construction there or something in order to make it prettier for the olympics. although its pretty pretty as it is i reckon.

anyway, being the intrepid (meh), badass (haha), awesome (just about passed first year...) photojournalist i am i decided to find a way into burgess park because i felt pretty hard done by, especially after all the walking. eventually i found a rather badly fenced area and climbed/squeezed/is this really worth it'd my through onto this little path buried in the heart of the site. it looked like it had been completely untouched for a few weeks, it was certainly in need of a leaf sweep anyway. mission accomplished.

so thats what i did today. of course i did the usual eating stuff, putting washing on the line, listening to owen and moaning about my life to various people on facebook. of course i did all that, why did you even ask?

this is what it looks like before i fall asleep most of the time. my excuse for last night is that i was reading the first part of stieg larsson's 'the girl with the dragon tattoo'. although it is rather heavy reading for late at night it is also thoroughly gripping and detailed. im looking forward to tonights/tomorrow mornings instalment.

i had eggs on beans on toast again tonight. i forgot the mushrooms and only remembered as i was plating up and i didnt want it to get cold. ive promised myself that im going to eat something different tomorrow though as im pretty sure i'll contract something if i keep eating the bean egg and toast combo, no matter how delicious it is.

booked my train ticket home. dun some stuff. completed the enrolment process in order to start my second year of university (you can do it all online now) and thought about some things.

today i spent a lot of time looking at cameras and lenses i cant afford. im not sure how constructive that is but it does make me want a job. i think this is good.

last night i finished the last lemony snicket book. the series ends so well and he ties everything up so perfectly that it may have caused me to shed a tear... maybe its because i was super tired or whatever but when theyre all crying for everyone theyve lost and loved by the big pile of books and kits dying and having a baby at the same time and everything and its just like aaaaaaaargghhh... i dont expect you to understand.

in other news i added mushrooms ontop of the eggs on beans on toast today. i think it might be the best thing ive ever done but im still waiting for the results to come back...

even though it was a seriously miserable day in terms of weather, me and my camera tasted 'fresh' south london air twice today.

after bidding goodbye to tom, matt and phil as they set off for europe i awoke at a kind of normal time. the peckham post office was really really busy and the guy who i always seem to end up having my post posted by was being even more acrimonious, a word which here means "of a massive sarcastic twat" than usual.

i just ate eggs on beans on toast. probably one of the fastest, quickest and most filling meals ive eaten in the past week. if i keep this kind of variety up i may just be able to avoid contracting scurvy... nah just kidding, ive got my vitamin c chews, they'll see me though.

i cycled to asda and bought some food. specifically: oven chips, eggs, baked beans, two pizzas (luxury buy) and a few packs of 29p noodles instead of the usual 11p noodles. im hoping that the extra 18p will improve the taste dramatically... it wont... but y'know, at least the packs have full colour prints instead of just green black and white. thats fun.
