Running from camera 6

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm, actual tripod

today in a bid to boost house moral we decided to clean everything. top to bottom. head to toe. back to front. door to door.

the bathroom floor upstairs actually looked different colour once i had finished mopping it, i also cleaned the shower. ergh

later me and phil cycled to asda and had a rather euphoric shopping trip on account of the £2 for four quorn steaks and mid nineties trance playlist radio asda had going on. nearly got hit by a moped on the way back. i called him a wanker.

its lauries birthday tomorrow so we're going round to his for drinks tonight. i will wake up tomorrow hungover.

Running from camera 5

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm, mum tripod

today i took my running to the 12:15 from dorchester to london, waterloo. i got mum to hold the camera, but as we were sat right by the little office, i had to wait until the train lady got up to whistle and shout at people waving flags. it dosent look that fast unfortunately but i didnt want to trip over any stray legs and make an ass of myself.

got into london and back to cator street in good time although i was carrying 3 very heavy bags. one full of clothes, books and camera bits, the other full of toiletries, cheese and olive oil and the last containing about 40 pairs of black socks. i think you can imagine the sort of looks i was getting.

nice to be home.

Running from camera 4

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm, muffin stand tripod

today i took my running to morrisons. a pretty successful misson really. i avoided getting forcefully removed from the premises although i did manage to scare a few old people. there was also a japanese tourist family behind me for one of the attempts, they didnt have a clue what was going on.

i need to pack as im training back to london tomorrow. the only problem is that the amount of stuff i have (mainly books and clothes) has about doubled in mass since my birthday. i may have to leave a few books behind and get them another time, poor books.

i also have a big bag of food to take up with me, so joe, thom and phil get ready for cheese, bread, probably some brioche and OLIVE OIL. like, the nice stuff that looks expensive. i know, best thing ever right?

also happy birthday alan, if you're reading this im guessing you're either drunk or very hungover. both are good.

Running from camera 3

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm, rock and bag combo tripod

i clocked up some serious walking miles today. went into town to pick up mums business cards, went to morrisons twice and had a mini hike up the tallest hill in bridport to take my running from camera photo.

as you might have noticed ive left my tripod in london, this means that in the photo you cant quite see the height of the hill compared to the rest of the town. heres the view at 50mm though. pretty steep.

managed to not get bitten by any snakes when walking back through the bracken, although i did suffer some pain whilst walking through a certain stinging nettle patch. stupid shorts.

ive been thinking more and more recently about what im going to do for a photo project next year. im thinking portraits or something along those lines... if you have any ideas or requests send me a message or something. id like to hear what people think.

Running from camera 2

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm, on camera flash, bag tripod

it was sooo sunny in bridport today, like really really hot. i decided to do my running from camera photo on the beach in honour of probably one of the last days of summer. i didnt get very far as its quite difficult to run fast on loose shingle. i got a lot of weird looks from all the beach dwellers and asked what i was doing twice. once you explain to people that its a 'project' they usually find it less interesting.

other than that i went into town for a bit to run some errands and sweat, ate pizza and bought mum a lot of chocolate and 'anything that looks yummy' from morrisons.

Running from camera 1

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm, rock tripod

been feeling abit blergh today.

went to sleep as the morning mist rolled in over bridport and woke up four hours later with a really cramped stomach, the pain actually woke me up. since then its been on and off all day, weird hurty. anyway, i came across this project the other day and loved it so much that i planned to do my own running from camera picture each day this week. lengthy, archival photography projects (you're reading mine) are right up my alley...

we can take two things from this photo - that i run like an idiot and that i cant sprint very far in the two seconds allowed by the self timer. i never did very well in sports day at school.

in other body news, my facial hair reached the point today where it had gone past 'unkempt' and turned officially 'scraggly'. with tims electric buzzer being in london i had to buy a genuine metal face scraper from morrisons. i havent wet shaved for about a year but its amazing how smooth it makes your face. charlie said i looked 'nice again'.

Drinker

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm

went out last night for some pints of beer, saw some old faces and a seagull get run over. it was actually quite distressing to see something breathe its last breath. it was writing all over the road and everything and then zoom, 'pop'. ushushush. came home and had a brilliant set of facebook conversations 'til it was light.

arose feeling slightly worse for wear and headed to grandmas for some anadin with a sunday roast chaser. feeling much better and minus a pretty big headthumper, me and grandad found all his old change to take down to the coin sorting machine in morrisons. by the time we had collected it all the canavs bag weighed a good 15kg. i swear hes been robbing amusement arcades or something...

came home and tired the dog out in the garden, charlie did good tennis ball chucking. i also taught him how to make a diy rubber band crossbow, we shot his playmobil people right up.

Tennis

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm

its been a while since i talked to someone pretty much non stop until 4am. this happened last night but the dogs loud and annoyingly consistent bark woke me up early enough to accompany mum and charlie down to the markets. i bumped into a certain mr hussey and had a brief catchup outside the disgusting mens toilets by the coach station. lovely.

played with charlie outside, he kept assuring me that i would be ok to play with him even though i have a bad back... i dont have a bad back, i think he thinks that everyone older than him does for some reason. i dont know.

also i know this photo probably should have been posted when wimbledon was on but, i was too lazy then. i actually had to climb atop a fence to get the angle right. seriously motivated...

birdie in the garden. little does it realise that theres no seed thanks to the fat pigeons that hang out on the stand all the time. also the cats probably going to eat him at some point. since we moved in our garden has become a killing field for wildlife.

installed google chrome on mums laptop and signed up for google+. i can see it causing facebook serious problems by christmas, if i was zuckerburg i would be quaking in my boots.

joes gone back to london and im staying with mum and charlie until they go to france later this week. yay more bridport...

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm lens

thats charlie being young and boundless whilst running up some steps in lyme regis. he spent most of the day being full of chips, ice cream and finally extreme happiness as joe won him a plush meerkat from one of the numerous grabby machines in the arcade next to the beach. joes weird knack for winning toys from them and has had us kicked out of arcades before because of this.

i saw some stuff in lyme regis, im going to list it all here as i cant think of funny anicdotes for each one; a really hairy guy that probably shouldnt have taken his top off, a little purple sticker i put on a wall years ago thats still there, joe making a stone skip 8 times, some pointy stones, a very sane looking 'crazy' golf course, a seagull shitting on a car, some dogs and a girl that really didnt want to be serving me an ice cream.

after all the jolly japes we bundled on the bus and plonked promptly home. (a million points to anyone who finds that last sentence hilarious because you've realised what im referencing)

ive got some chocolate and theres a fridge full of lemonade. nice.

took this today whilst i was walking through the field with the cows in. i was going to do another cow photo but thought it would be abit of a cop out and they all looked especially angry today. also the one with the horns is still there.

posted some stuff and enquired about a postal order, the post office people in bridport are so much more helpful than in peckham.

going to watch the new harry potter tonight. woop.

Pink

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm lens

i want a leica m9.

went to gran and grandads house today for some dinner and laughs. sat in their new motorised reclining chair thing, i think when im older im going to get one of those instead of a bed, theyre so comfy.

their bathroom has always been a fascination of mine as a photographer, the light in there in the evenings is always so nice and the consistent theme of 'pink' makes it look amazing. reminds me of when i was younger and i would try and wee the shape of england into the into the toilet water bubbles left over from endless bleaching. nostalgia everywhere

murdouche got pied and were gunna see johnny tonight, ahsum.

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm lens

woke up at twoish and got a late birthday present that just arrived, another book on type. you might have an idea of what my current obsession is...

finished the fifth ASOUE book last night. unfortunately due to my annoying tendency to travel with no more than one bag i left the sixth book in london in favour of more space for clothes when i travelled down, rather short sighted of me really as i read quite fast. so until the 28th have nothing to read but books on type, interesting but not quite ASOUE. who needs clean clothes when you can read stuff, im never leaving a book behind again.

going to grans for dinner tomorrow, that'l be nice.

tims house was awesome last night; a very drinky and laughy affair complete with guess the film quote, be sick in the toilet, laugh until you may as well be sick in the toilet and stumble home at 3am tired, but very happy.

went to see dad today with granny and grandad. talked about life, ate pizza and fixed my little brothers punchered bike wheel. felt like such a pro older brother.

i wanna drink some lemonade. i think we have a massive bottle in the fridge. birthday party leftovers ftw.

woke up at about noon. got some awesome presents. one being 'a type primer' by John Kane and some 'pyjama shorts' so i dont have to keep scaring postmen / couriers / local election candidate representatives by answering the front door in my pants.

set up the arch nemisis. we had to duct tape most of the poles together as they all kept falling out. i swear the gazebo exists purely to annoy me.

had some BBQ food and cake with the family, it felt weird not to be photographing the cake blowing out for once. i have no idea what im going to do about the photographer if i get married, i know i'll hate all the pictures. i might just spend abit of the budget on setting up loads of remote cameras that i can trigger wirelessly. god im such a nerd.

going to tims to see long lost but not fogotten friends and drink beer and laugh about stuff. happeh

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm lens

about twenty years ago my heavily pregnant mum woke up thinking she had indegestion. oh how wrong she was...

made the journey home today in good time, it only took the alotted, grueling three hours and by southwest trains' standards is something to be happy about. had to share the bus with some woman talking loudly on her phone about a date she went on the night before with a man that apparently decided to wear a thong, she then went on to say that she was going to 'plaster it all over Bebo'. for one i wasnt sure what exactly she was planning on plastering all over bebo, also, who actually uses bebo?

anyway, family, food, drinks and happy tomorrow.

Eggs and eggs and eggs

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm lens

i spent most of today either asleep, looking at the computer or looking at the washing up that is currently verging on epic and the bin that now has been officially declared a state of emergency.

going home tomorrow in order to celebrate my 20th year of 'doing life' on saturday, pretty mad that ive survived that long really.

also managed to rather majestically string egg yolk, from my mouth / fork onto my only clean pair of trousers earlier, so it looks like im going to have to bust out the 'holes in all the wrong places' shorts tomorrow. sorry in advance to the unfortunate person sitting opposite me on the train.

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm lens

obviously i got a tattoo last night. nothing big, just something to remind myself of the awesome times had and to be had living here at 171 cator street. im very happy with it.

woke up well and truly in the pm today after staying up reading the first section of the fourth ASOUE book - the miserable mill. later i answered the door to the postman who presented me with a new version of our broken van part. woop

rustled up some fried eggs on toast for dinner. it made a welcome change from the tesco microwavable hell troughs ive been fighting my way through recently but still, i should have gone the extra mile and poached. shuda cuda wuda

i also suffered a rather nasty is it dead? yeah its probably dead... oh no fuck its definitely alive and crawling straight towards me, abandon shower and dry off in the hallway spider moment earlier. not very fun.

Boof

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm lens

the view from the back of the makeshift vocal booth in joes room today. matt pc came up and did some guest vocals as well, bless him. he also bought his home made tattooing kit... i can only see this ending in something permanently hilarious.

the microwaveable cottage pie was surprisingly nice. the 'thats definitely not real mince' topped with the 'not quite mashed potato' was rather filling, and for a mere 70 pence, its not a bad investment. this only leaves me wondering about what potential delicious secrets the dreaded and as yet un-purchased 'corned beef hash' may have in store, but i keep telling myself no. i think this is a good thing.

im thirsty.

Pink pedal

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm lens

woke up today and sat down at a drumkit and hit things loud, and then a bit quieter, and can you do that again? and nah you played it different last take, and yeah seriously, and ok cool, go again. i had to record it all in just my boxers. its almost become ritualistic for me to do that when recording at home now as i play much better and also the room is so hot, clothes just seem like an inconvenience. gross

got the last in the series of microwaveable dinners tonight from tesco, the cottage pie. i dont care what anyone says; theres no way im going to try the 'sweet and sour chicken' or even consider the 'corned beef hash'. no way.

just to give you an idea of the quality standards these 'meals' (used in the very loosest sense) meet, they cost about 70 pence each.

vocals tomorrow. if my neighbours are reading this dont worry, no ones getting killed or receiving a series of extremely violent electric shocks, its just tim. although this is peckham, so that is probably happening somewhere near by if you're into that kind of thing.

The marvellous marriage

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm lens, flashgun

came downstairs earlier to discover that phil and thom had spent the last twenty minutes constructing and dressing tim in what can only be described as a wedding dress made out of tesco bags. asides from looking like a rushed final piece from an A-Level textile project on 'the environment' it was hilarious and it seemed only right that an asda bag tux was created for me. - the happy couple

i slept last night which was awesome, nothing like abit of sleep after being awake for 36 hours straight. we've decided that me, tim and joe are one day going to have a competition to see who can stay awake the longest. its probably a terrible idea but the winner gets £20 alongside bouts of extreme vomiting, a sense of complete despair and hallucinations. seriously, who needs drugs?

Tired eyes

canon eos 40d, 50-200mm lens

today went pretty much like this - go to bed at 3.30am, no sleep NO SLEEP!, get out of bed at 7.30amish, make toast and cup of tea and work on keeping myself awake for the rest of the day.

i was beginning to falter around lunchtime so phil very kindly bought me a can of coke and that pepped me up somewhat. my eyes are aching now though and i cant say i blame them. come 1am i will have been awake for 36 hours and theyve done their fair share of looking at stuff; mainly a qwerty keyboard, helvetica-light, the view from my window, the kitchen, food that im sure used to be %100 plastic before i microwaved the shit out of it and tims various facial contortions.

The End

canon eos 40d, olympus 50mm, tripod

this is the last page of the 13th book in ASOUE series. ive not quite there yet this time round but wanted to use it as my photo for today as i think the last paragraph really sums up the series and the messages that come with it.

the books bring up alot of ideas about whats considered good or evil, about dealing with difficult situations and realising that a lot of the time you just have to do your best to deal with them and not give up. i write this because recently in 171 we've all realised that we have no money, our only means of engine based transport is broken and is going to be expensive to fix and we've all been eating food out of cans, the majority of which has been coloured orange.

basically at times when circumstances seem dire and when everything seems like its going wrong one can always find hope in friends and loved ones. you can still laugh and make music and take photos and hug each other.

pretty deep man. books just make me think a lot about stuff.

went to lauren and lauries last night for some hangouts and films, its nice having those guys living within walking distance now. however this walking distance proved to be my demise this morning as it was raining torrential style and despite lauries generous lending of a jumper, i partook in a long, cold, salty, fully clothed shower back to cator street. power on full, temperature at 1

also the cut on my foot has reopened itself to reveal a very sore patch of new, not quite ready to be walked on skin. needless to say the plasters and savalon have reappeared. esssh its stingy

Shurt

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm, two flashes, tripod

ive been looking at this blog / collection of images loads recently and it inspired me to make todays photo quite designy and white and nice and crisp and stuff.

this is me in ma shurt. its pretty much the only interesting item of clothing that i own. the word interesting here meaning "something that isnt grey or a band t-shirt".

todays been a kind of nothingy day; plans fell through, vans still broken, its been raining, my foot hurts, no food, no money, also i have a cold and it makes my face feel heavy.

in other news tumblrs made it so you can now see the exif data on all my photos. wut. if you hover over an image and click the little " i " in the bottom left hand corner you can see what ISO i was using, shutter speed and everything. although whenever i use the 12-24mm (pretty much all the time) the aperture is always on F4 because its still fucked.

so last night we went over to laurie and laurens new flat for some housewarming drinks. at about 3am when everyone was outside smoking on the balcony we saw an urban fox skulking around on the ground below us. after it ignored our attempts to coax it towards us by chucking crackers at it, tim decided the best idea would be to go down and try and interact with it, naturally i and my camera followed.

what followed was about fifteen minutes of serious urban fox interaction. it came so close to tim and at one point nibbled his sock.

probably quite dangerous and seriously unhygienic but alot of fun, i managed to cut my foot open as well so now thats been washed out and is held together with a rather unsightly combination of plasters and duct tape.

downloaded a free tiral of this software called 'exposure 3' made by alien skin today. its basically a set of filters that are supposed to recreate the looks of different types of film. apparently this is what fuji velvia 100 looks like if you leave it in the processing tank for too long... it is a handy program if you're hell bent on turning every digital photo you take into one that looks like a film photo, however to be honest a lot of the effects are quite easy to create in photoshop if you know what you're doing. also if you're willing to fork out £170 for it you may as well spent it on some nice film and develop it instead. i dunno, im annoyingly opinionated - a phrase which here means "someone who is irritating and thrusts their opinions in your face" - when it comes to these sorts of things.
