Mo

canon eos 40d, sigma 24mm

today is the last day of november so i thought i would show off my attempted moustache that i have been sporting this past month or so. it is more impressive than last years, i can say that for sure.

my essay still isnt done. i only have about 400 words left to write though and that includes another image analysis and a conclusion so. yeah. that'l get done later.

right now i am heading out to complete my photo story (also in for tomorrow) and then to play a show at the star of kings with our good friends goodtime boys. i cant wait. matt pc of run, WALK! fame is playing bass for us as well. ive wanted to share a stage with him for a long long time, so that will be awesome.

Grime

canon eos 40d, sigma 24mm

today started well. i eventually woke up after a fair bit of poking and prodding and saw emily off on her way back to hatfield. i spent the rest of the day getting angry with codecs and wrestling with photoshop plug ins.

also my first ever graze box arrived; basically a load of tasty and most importantly free (for the first box) food in a neat little cardboard box. if you wanna get one for free and have some good old munch then enter this code at graze.com - ZDMM4RRD. you can cancel your subscription after the first box and they wont take any of your money. thats what im doing.

i am now fighting with an essay i have to do for thursday, its only 1500 words but it is prooving to be a pain. this photo is what my life has looked like for the past few hours.

Fair

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm

a photoset usually means that i have actually gone and done something with my life. i did.

me, emily, emilys dad and his other half val went into london and had a look around the national portrait gallery, there was some good photography and some bad photography. i waited outside a toilet for about half an hour and then we went to hyde parks winter wonderland tacky christmas fair spectacular. it was the worst and best thing ever. horrible faux wooden huts housing food outlets, fair games and even cash machines, a big light up turny wheel and pretty much everything to do with christmas you could ever want ever and more. it was pretty good to take photos at as well, im going to go back there at some point.

im now really quite tired as i havent been sleeping well recently and walking around london all day makes the legs ache. me. tired. 9.30 pm. what

it looked nice when we woke up this morning. then i fell back asleep again. then i woke up again.

me and joey and stef sat in the dark and talked about suicide for a bit then i went and met emoily from work and we went to sleep again.

now it feels like 8pm when its actually nearly tomorrow and we're about to make pancakes. what

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm

last night 171 went to see 171 dweller joe play some music at the camp in shoreditch. it was pretty good if not quite a late night. listen to his stuff here!

today i got woken up by another phone call asking where i was but from an emily rather than a toni. i am now in hatfield watching QI and avoiding writing a certain essay.

Gap

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm

"i swallowed water right in front of her face, just to show that she had nothing to say" that line has been in my head all day. its a good one i think

i slept past my alarms and awoke to toni ringing me to tell me that she was in the library waiting for a lens that i promised to lend her. i got my self organised and went to fulfil this promise. on the way i saw a man get knocked from his bike by a bus, it was pretty shocking but he was okay. the bus didnt even stop or anything either, terrible people.

i got some books from the library full of joel meyerowitz's photographs. i am gradually falling in love with his work. it reminds me of my own but a million times better, this is both great and depressing. colour

we are going out tonight to a place called 'camp' in shoreditch, i reckon it'll be quite fun as there will be some good people knocking about. i think we might be home quite late.

someone buy me a 8x10 large format camera please. thanks

Deep sea diving

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm

for some reason we went to asda at like half one this morning. i got some ice creams. mission accomplished.

i had absolutely nothing to do today so i woke up late and hung around a bit. i ate some chips. we went to sainsburys just for a change of scene in terms of supermarket and i got some apples. there is a mountain of washing up with my name on it downstairs and i would quite like to have a bath. i have to read some stuff for contextual studies tomorrow, its very very wordy though, like almost unnecessarily so.

so yeah i should probably do that stuff

i really really really want some ice cream.

i had to use microsoft office picture manager to edit my photo today, its so much better right... i promise i'll get photoshop soon and sort everything out. everything will be fine. dont worry.

yes ive been inside staring at a computer or asleep or eating plate after plate of chips all day. of course i have. my stomach doesnt feel achy today though, thats pretty good. i've been writing a lot and my brain is rather fried.

a day of nothing tomorrow. nothing to do.

Raw

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm

this is the completely raw unedited, uncropped, uneverythinged version of this photo as my photoshop trial on my laptop ran out and my big computer keep freezing and its half eleven and i dont want to risk it.

i was horizontal for a long long time today. eventually we got up and made some pasta and then travelled back to london. emily and alan have gone to a gig. i went home to eat hummus and celebrate marks birthday.

i have a weird stomach achy thing. i want to be horizontal some more.

today i woke up later than i wanted to. alan made some bacon sandwiches because he is lovely. i met emily at work and became a temporary employee for about an hour, it was fun. then we went to waterstones and hung around in there for about another hour looking at books and suggesting things to each other and laughing at the new 'mini' books that are printed in a landscape format onto bible paper and just look like the most annoying thing ever.

we walked back and bought things at coop for dinnar. fish n chips. then i took this photo of me emily and alan on a sofa. yeah

poor effort. get real.

Cold

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm

i walked past this today. i want to take more photos of petrol stations at night this winter. i will do this.

me and joey hung out in the day and ate eggs and talked about dreams and computers and all things nice. after that i went to meet emily from work. i recently won some free cinema tickets for the cinema in hatfield so i claimed them and we watched the new tintin film. it was actually really good, i was expecting it to be terrible but i enjoyed it a lot. JP, you should watch it.

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm

so, last night 171 held its first ever 'party'. it went well and long into the night. the kitchen looked typically disgusting in this morning. look, theres tim with his hand down his pants.

we made fruit salad and sandwiches and we bought some lemonade.

i came back to hatfield with emily and had some pizza and more lemonade.

i think im going to start writing an essay tomorrow. im looking forward to actual work.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRIG!

the amount of planning that went into surprising brig for his 21st birthday was insane. military operations have been less complicated. we did it though. we got people from all over the country to 171 and it went off without a hitch. woo

so yeah thats pretty much it. uni was actually really good today (again) we talked about on the road and jack kerouac and joel meyerowitz and good photographers and debated stuff and that. it actually inspired me a bit. weird

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm

i woke up with a bumpy face. i dont know what it is. i reckon im allergic to fake bacon. this may also be a good time to tell you that i dont think im going to be home until chirstmas. but i finish on the 9th so like, i'll be down soon anyway. sorry mum

uni was actually okay today; we did things that were fun and didnt do too much sitting around. our tutor did have someone observing him though... maybe he should do actual lesson plans more often, it makes me feel like im actually being educated rather than like im part hiring a room with 20 other people for three hours. the view from the window was pretty sweet as well.

i made another awesome upper crust rip off sandwich tonight even though i am minus an emily. i also bought like thirty custard creams for 54 pence from tesco. bargain bucket.

Home time 2

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm

we walked to asda today and bought ingredients for a fruit salad and things to make our own version of upper crusts brie, cranberry, bacon and spinach rolls. we just made them, they were as nice if not better than upper crusts. we're going into business soon.

i went to film studies and to my surprise found it didnt make me want to kill myself quite as much as usual. i drew a nice capital G in my book as well.

Face

canon eos 40d, home made pinhole lens

i woke up to phil talking to a religious lady at the door. we managed to convince her that christmas was fun and then she said phil looked like jesus. SE15

all this did mean that i was awake before midday though, so i put some washing on and then hung it in the cold for ages and didnt really do much else because i didnt have my keys and couldnt leave the house because everyone was out. so i hung out with my face.

there is a sleepy emily here now. too much pizza and cookies.

Skyline

canon eos 40d, sigma 50-200mm

the sky looked like this today, oh look theres a telephone line as well. grey

it got very dark very quickly and everyone in 171 was feeling a bit depressed, so we journeyed towards the bright green beacon of hope that is asda and bought food to make us feel better. i got some cookies and ten oranges. i have eaten four already.

i also spent a bit of today sorting out an andinmyhandsacamera online shop. how exciting right?

the reason being is this: y'know those pinhole photos i did a while back? yeah? well im taking some of the photos and making them into badges. and i thought maybe some people might still think badges are cool. maybe even cool enough to buy? i doubt it, but anyway. yeah. i love badges, so maybe you do too.

Posters

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm

to my amazement the sun (yeah, that guy) streamed in through my window this morning. this actually woke me up at a time that is more in keeping with normal humans sleeping patterns and meant i actually did things with my day. these things mainly involved walking into peckham, getting unwelcome but manageable news about a certain shift at a certain work place not being able to be swapped around for a certain person and fish finger sandwiches.

i saw these posters in peckham. i dont know what they are about or why they are there. i like them though. i like posters.

Poppies

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm, tripod, flash

i went into central today and bought some stationary. i got a new staedtler 0.3, a new black bic fine, an a6 graph paper pad and this black pen from muji that contains the worst ink/nib known to man. scratchy dosent even begin to describe it.

i stopped off in trafalgar and took some photos of the poppies floating. last year i stood on some steps for about five hours and watched a lot of people march along and remember people and took photos of it all, it was good. i remember getting very wet though.

im pretty hungry and i need a bath. new derren brown tonight. woopah.

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm

this is what going home looks like, i had two sandwiches from tesco in my bag as well. so good.

my day was pretty gosh darn boring. i sat around for quite some time and then got a 30 second critique of my photo and went home. 2.30-5pm, the time just flys by.

i walked to asda and bought some proper food shopping. i got loads of stuff for under ten pounds, although i had to tell people that the lady serving me was closing her till so they couldnt queue behind me. you'd think she would have a sign or something. oh well.

tonight i have eaten four slices of chocolate chip infused brioche loaf and five cookies.

Protests 2011

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm

i came back to london just as the protests were beginning to calm down. i met james and we hung around and watched 50 or so teenagers dance to some music in front of the police for about half an hour. eventually they started marching again and then the police cordoned people and placed them all under arrest for not walking where they were supposed to. it was all a bit silly, so i left. after that i stumbled upon the lovely simon and fabian of we came out like tigers fame. it was a very unexpected encounter and it made me happy. i miss those guys. listen to their music here.

tonight i will be completely cleaning up and organising the disgrace that is my desktop, eating food, getting my 'environmental portraits' ready to be slated tomorrow and listening to music.

today we went to hatfield to celebrate joeys 21st birthday, there he is opening his card. emily drew a poo on the front of it.

today i forgot about money and got some films processed. then i remembered money when i was told it would cost seventeen pounds... SEVENTEEN POUNDS. thats ridiculous. two 24 exp films at the smallest size WITHOUT a cd. dude.

anyway yeah, above is the first (and probably last) photo in this project taken on film. woo.

phil made a lovely veggie sausage casserole and matt bought house ice creams. seriously good. oh theres this girl here as well, i dont know where she came from.

i saw this persons yellow boots next to the yellow 'dont walk over here unless you want to die' line in the tube station. sorry if this is you and you dont want to have 225+ people seeing the bottom of your legs... cool boots though mate.

upon arriving home me and phil cleaned the kitchen up good and proper and made some food. later once everybody was awake we decided to put the leaky car seats back in the car and patch up all the gaping holes in the wheel arches. no more wet bums.

tonight i have been getting increasingly frustrated with my internet connection and its dislike for displaying certain pages. im now going to go and have a bath like a girl.

Celebrator

canon eos 40d, tokina 12-24mm

this morning i dragged myself out of bed and onto a bus and into a class room and doodled through nearly three hours worth of presentations. useful.

in the afternoon i had to walk home as i had run out of oyster money and i didnt have any money or my card on me. it was kind of nice and i felt like i was saving money and exercising, however i countered this with a frankly devastating 'large big tasty with bacon meal' from mcdonalds a few hours later. balance

tonight i will mainly be listening to music, playing with some new blog layouts on photoshop and making omelettes. comfy

when i was in hatfield i got a tattoo courtesy of this fine young gent (check out his work, he's really really good).

if you know what this insignia is/means then good, although i didnt realise this was a sad occasion. if not then it will take way too long to explain it in one post. read the series of unfortunate events books by lemony snicket.

ive wanted this for a very very long time and its awesome to finally have it embedded in my skin forever.
